Red-footed Booby Decoy
We don't often get to make decoys of tropical birds, but these guys are an exception. It seems that Boobies had decided to nest on the Live Fire Range at Marine Base Honolulu, so it was imperative that the colony be relocated. Working in conjunction with the knowlegeable folks at the Oikonos in Honolulu, we developed two patterns: one nesting and one displaying, with wings upstretched. Large decoys, these were hollowed out to save weight, because these birds nest in trees, and the decoys had to be mounted similarly.
